Who Exists Now?

In Thoughts on November 1, 2013 at 11:12 am

Mexico plays softly in the background

teasing me with her wiles,

while I measure my space in this room

and all that I presume

dropping hints and speaking aloud

what?

that I am alone

that I have worked my life for nothing

that always I have been what is supposed

and never what is

and now it’s over?

Where is Mexico now I need her most?

her teasing smiles

her naked breasts

as I look through my window

dimly through my reflection

I see all the cars parked outside

ready to go where I will never be.

Mi vida por tu amor

si coqueta, te adoro

todavia no tengo paz

no puedo olvidar te

o que tu, quien nunca existias,

nunca va morir.

Question of the Day — Stop believing your thoughts?

In Thoughts on August 24, 2012 at 10:35 am

Stop believing your thoughts.

So, here’s my question of the day: Do you exist? Of course so, right? But what if it turns out you are not what you think yourself to be:

  • The Master of your destiny

Or

  • A pawn in fate’s game

  • A solid citizen

Or

  • A waste of space

  • A material existence

Or

  • A spiritual one

Or

  • A mixture of both

What if any or none of these proposition are true? What if it is difficult or near impossible to get to an unconditionally true proposition about yourself? What if you have never been, never could be, what you thought your were?

Suddenly you are not what you think you are — but something else! What? What can you be?  What ever it is, it’s not you — it’s the other. The other exists, not you.

The teen laid in a pool of blood. Shot by police because he was pointing a weapon at them. Only there was no weapon, no gun, no threat. Just a chance object that seemed menacing. Who was killed?

  • Not the threatening  boy the police saw — that was just a figment of their fear

Nor

  • The harmless kid — that was just a figment of the boy’s lack of understanding of the risks he faced

The person shot was a circumstance, a coming together of people through a series of planned and chance events due to a path of causation that simply is not retrievable. We are not able to know either logically or spiritually more than a few obvious things — and even these will be endlessly fought over by those who put a point of view above understanding.

Our brains are a puddle, our thoughts a muddle. We see clearly one thought only…nothing we believe is so secure and right and necessary to be worth hurting people over.

Nothing.

You are not here

Dear Reader

Despite what you may think, these posts are  practical and in accord with common sense. If they seem counter-intuitive it is because I often take the same path every other logical mind takes, but in reverse.

Upon an island lay two villages, one on the south of the island, the other on the north. Only one road transverses the island, which crosses a river and a mountain. There came upon the road two stalwart travelers, one from the south, the other from the north. By happenstance, they met in the middle between the mountain and river.

“”Why, god speed stranger! It is good to meet another traveler upon this lonely road!” cried they. Immediately the two sat and began the breaking of bread and serving of tea. Happily went the discourse until a fatal question: “How found you the crossing of the river,” asked the southerner of the other. “I found it high with water and difficult to cross.”

“I’m sorry,” said the northerner, “you confuse me, dear sir, surely you know that the mountain, steep and treacherous, lies first upon this road!”

“What say you? The mountain? Why I can see it myself in the distance where I have not traveled yet! The river comes first!”

So stood they arguing, neither allowing the other to pass, and causing quite a jam upon the road so that others less credulous were held back as well.

If you see yourself as from the north, east, south, west then this is the blog for you. If I can’t help you return to common sense, then who?
